The Grand-Daddy of them all. Restaurant style food in an upmarket traditional setting in Norfolk’s most famous village. Awash with local and national awards and about £45 a head. Early booking is essential. Outside garden.

A lovely conservatory restaurant with sun deck terrace and adjoining dining area with spectacular sea views. Emphasis is on seafood. Could have been included within bar snack pubs which is part of its upmarket charm but still expect to pay about £40 a head. Early booking is advisable.

 

Titchwell Manor, Titchwell, Near Brancaster  (10 minute drive)              01485 210221                                                                                      Fine dining in quite formal setting. Emphasis on seafood with interesting touches such as “cockle vinaigrette” and “gin foam”. Popular with older visitors. Expect to pay about £55 a head. Booking advisable.

The Victoria, Holkham (20 minute drive)                                                   01328 713230                                                                                        Part of the Holkham Hall Estate and now almost as well-renowned througout the land as the nearby Hoste Arms. Decorated and furnished with panache and a few steps from Holkham Beach. Early booking is essential and about £45 a head. Large garden.

Fine dining in a formal but elegant Georgian manor set in 30 acres. Expect to pay about £55 a head. Early booking is advisable.

Serious foodies should expect to pay about £60 a head. Early booking is essential. 5/3
